The higher hourly rate for couples reflects the specialist training required for couple therapy. It is recommended for couples to start their work with longer sessions attended weekly. When appropriate, the interval between sessions may be extended. Hourly sessions attended less frequently may be arranged as ongoing, ‘top up’, support for the relationship once couples feel comfortable with the process.
Currently in Australia, Psychotherapy and counselling is not normally covered by Medicare. However some policies offered by Medibank will support you to access this support from a psychotherapist or counsellor who is a Clinical Registrant of PACFA. If you are hoping to have the therapy cost covered by Medibank you may need a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. It is important to check the details of your particular policy with your insurer as a matter of course. It is always better to be clear about how many sessions your policy covers or whether there is a funding cap.
As a Clinical Registrant of PACFA I am currently registered as a provider with Medibank
If you are a UK registered member of the following UK based private medical insurers I am also listed as a provider for the following :
Aviva Health UK
All sessions need to be paid for on the day. Assessment sessions are payable in cash. Once you are able to commit to regular sessions then any alternative payment methods can be discussed and agreed.
When we agree our therapeutic contract, the same appointment time will be allocated to you on a weekly basis. This becomes your time, to take care of your emotional needs, and enables you to plan any work commitments around this time.
Because these times will not be offered to any other clients, you will be charged for any sessions you are unable to attend, unless the cancellation is agreed well in advance.
Please contact me if for any reason you’re unable to attend a session.
